A total of 16 concession areas (WKPs) for mineral and coal mining (Minerba), will be auctioned in 2018. Out of the 16 WKPs, 5 of them were former CoWs (KK) which contract have ended, while the rest are former mining areas of coal mining concession holders (PKP2Bs) and coal mining license permit holders (IUPs).
The Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) Arcandra Tahar said that prior to the auction, the ESDM ministry will revise the Ministerial Regulation (Permen) of ESDM No. 28/2013 on the auction procedure for coal mining license permit and special mining license in mineral and coal mining business activities.
“The Ministerial Regulation will be revised to rearrange the auction scheme to be conducted. It will be conducted in the near future,” said Arcandra in the ESDM Ministry (4/1).
Meanwhile, the Head of Public Information and Relationship communication Bureau of ESDM Agung Pribadi said that the number of concession areas may increase.
“Currently there is just 16 mining areas,” said Agung.
