SNC Technologies recently installed two new MineLink fleet management systems in Sumatra. One system was for PT. MacMahon and the other system was installed at the PT Bukit Asam.
PT MacMahon is a mining contractor whose parent company is based in Australia. PT. MacMahon, operates at the Martabe Gold Mine near Sibolga in North Sumatra.
MineLink was installed on 23 CAT 745 articulated dump trucks and two CAT 390D excavators operating at the mine. In addition, a wifi communications network was deployed consisting of 2 fixed transmission towers and 4 solar powered portable towers
One of the challenges on this project was that the CAT 745’s did not have any payload weigh scales. Since MineLink tracks the production output and each of the truck cycle activities, such as loading, hauling, tipping, etc., MineLink needs to know when the truck is being loaded or is tipping. To get around the problem of no automatic payload sensors, SNC Technologies modified MineLink to add virtual buttons on the screen that the operator pushes to tell the system when it is loading or tipping. Project Manager Yusdar, says “Putting in the soft buttons was the easy part. The more difficult part was figuring out what to do when the operator forgets to push the button at the right time. But we work out a failsafe solution that insures that we don’t miss any data.”
With MineLink, MacMahon operation management was able to stop all of their manual reporting and utilize the extensive reports that are automatically produced by MineLink. This meant that the data was more accurate and available in real-time.
- Buket Asam
PT Bukit ASam is a government owned mining company that operates a coal mine near Tanjung Enim in South Sumatra. The mine produces about 24 million tons of coal a year.
MineLink was installed on 40 Belaz dump trucks, 7 excavators, and 28 auxiliary vehicles operating at the mine. In addition, a wifi communications network was deployed consisting of 1 fixed transmission towers and 3 solar powered portable towers.
Because these were the first Belaz trucks used in Indonesia. SNC Technologies had to develop the interface to the Belaz onboard computer. This was done by working closely with the Belaz engineers who were represented by the Bluebird Group in Indonesia.
- Bukit Asam management is now able to management their dump truck fleet such more efficiently and track production more accurately and in real-time.
MineLink is SNC Technologies total fleet management solution for open pit mines. MineLink automates the dispatching of trucks to/from loaders in order to maximize production efficiency. The system minimizes shovel/excavator hang time and truck queuing. MineLink provides real-time production figures and KPI's in real-time across the entire mine site allowing more efficient operations and increased productivity
